A Senior Session Full of Smiles, Laughter + So Much Life

Some senior sessions feel a little more personal, and this was definitely one of those for me. I've known this sweet girl since she was in second grade, so getting to photograph her senior pictures was one of those moments that makes you wonder where in the world the time went. I've watched her grow up over the years, and somewhere along the way she became one of those kids who just feels like one of my own. Getting to document this chapter for her was incredibly special.
We photographed her senior session at two different locations around Pikeville, Kentucky, with a few outfit changes along the way. Everything about the session fit her perfectly. Her style was simple, natural and completely her, and we didn't need anything elaborate to make these photographs beautiful. She brought the smiles, the laughter and the kind of joy that you simply can't manufacture for a camera.
And speaking of the camera, she was an absolute natural in front of it. Some of my favorite photographs from senior sessions aren't necessarily the perfectly posed ones. They're the moments in between. The laugh that happens when we're supposed to be taking the picture. The hair getting tucked behind an ear. The big smile followed by the quiet one. Those are the photographs that let someone's personality come through, and this session was full of them.
Her love for life seems to spill right over into the people around her, and I wanted these photographs to capture that. Senior year is about celebrating everything they've accomplished, but it's also about documenting who they are before life starts changing so quickly. Before graduation. Before college, careers and all the adventures that come after. For just a little while, we get to freeze this version of them.
Maybe that's part of why photographing seniors I've known since they were little hits me differently. Behind my camera I can see the beautiful young woman standing in front of me, but there's still a tiny piece of me that remembers the second grader, too.

My full senior sessions give us time for multiple outfits, multiple locations and plenty of variety, without rushing from one thing to the next. Whether your senior loves getting dressed up or would rather live in jeans and a simple top, we'll build their session around who they actually are.
I currently have room for approximately five more full senior sessions before my 2026 season ends, and 2027 senior sessions are now booking.
As Kandi Zadel Photography moves into a more intentionally limited schedule, I will be opening only 25 full senior session spots for 2027. Once those dates are filled, my full senior calendar will close for the year.
